omdo STUDIOS |timeless| - Converse

So much focus in sustainability today is on the fabrication and carbon footprint of the manufacturing, which we definitely need to talk about but sustainability is also about the timelessness of the design and the longevity to the customer, if we make a garment that is in the most eco friendly fabric and production but someone only wears it three times and then throws it out then how can it be sustainable.⠀
⠀
This week we are focusing on the iconic Converse Chuck Taylor. Im sure no one needs to be introduced to these shoes, and i'm sure when they were invented back in 1917 they didn't have any idea of the impact they would have on contemporary culture.⠀
⠀
They were on the feet of athletes, on the basketball court and right through to the olympics but really found their stride as the shoe of subculture. Being adapted by everyone from Patti Smith, Kurt Cobain and The Strokes right to Karen O , the Sex Pistols and Tyler the Creator this shoe has become an icon of style while barely changing its design in its one hundred year lifespan.⠀
⠀
We remember getting our converse and scuffing them up just the right amount so they took on such a personal signature that we wouldn't want to take them off our feet. Still today we wear converse at least fifty percent of the time, the shoe that goes with everything, if that doesn't say sustainability I don't know what does!⠀
