omdo STUDIOS |muses| - Donald Judd

Next up on omdo STUDIOS |muses| which is a spotlight of creative people who inspire us and our work on a daily basis is Donald Judd.⠀
⠀
This multidisciplinary artist, in our opinion has an impeccable aesthetic and was a major player in the New York art scene starting from the 60’s focusing on large scale sculptural work. ⠀
⠀
It is the multi disciplinary aspect that has most inspired us though, Judd worked not just on art but furniture and home wear design, architecture and a number of other specialities. There is such a conscience train of thought through all his work, with echos of his sculptures seen in his chairs and tables, the architecture in the now famous Marfa town in Texas which is where Judd and his family used to live part of the year has Judds creative handwriting all over it in the architectural layout of all the building some of which are kept how he used to live and others have been turned into galleries and libraries.⠀
⠀
The Judd Foundation which handles the estate has kept his Spring Street, Soho home exactly as he had it when he lived there, if you ever are in New York it is in our opinion an essential visit. A six floor manhattan building with all his furniture, sculptures and work spaces in tact.⠀
⠀
What do you think of his work? Let us know in the comments below.
